Tigress Ltd’s educational programme has been featured on
television in Russia. Earlier this month, the Tyumen Regional
television channel broadcast a 15 minute story in the daily evening
news programme about the company’s long-term partnership with
Tyumen State Oil and Gas University (TSOGU).

The broadcast comes as the university’s Institute of Geology and
Geoinformatics prepares to celebrate its 40th anniversary next
month (December 2005). Next year will mark a decade since Tigress
and TSOGU started to work together.
In 1996, Tigress Ltd donated software and hardware to Tyumen
State Oil and Gas University (TSOGU) for its TACIS project
“Technical assistance to management development in the oil and gas
industry”. The donation comprised two Tigress licences, one IBM
workstation and 10 PCs for the university’s computer room. At TSOGU
Tigress is used primarily for non-commercial research and
post-graduate programmes.
In 2005, Tigress supplied an additional 10 licences so that the
university could offer a course on “Integrated systems of reservoir
modelling” using the Tigress software. The course, designed for
fifth-year students specialising in information systems and
technologies in Geosciences, is based on the standard Tigress
training program. It includes lectures and practical exercises
delivered by Tigress Ingeoservice’s experienced staff who are based
in Tyumen.
Developing the relationship
Earlier this month (November 2005) David Sullivan, managing
director of Tigress Ltd, and Andrei Bezhentsev, managing director
of Tigress Ingeoservice, had a meeting with TSOGU’s Director of
Institute of Geology and Geoinformation Systems Sergei Turenko and
TSOGU’s First Deputy Director Vladimir Novoselov. During the
meeting the sides discussed opportunities for further development
of the relationship between TSOGU and Tigress.
David Sullivan commented that "Tigress has a strong record of
working with academic institutions around the world and we are
particularly pleased to continue our support for the Tyumen State
Oil and Gas University programme as it approaches its 10th year as
an active Tigress site. Tigress itself celebrates the 10th
anniversary of the Tyumen office this year, and we plan to build on
our experience in this region. Tigress continues to work with local
companies to develop new areas of data management and to ensure
full bilingual support for all business aspects of the Russian
market.”
