The Tigress suite of geoscience applications represents the most
integrated solution available to the petroleum industry, with a
comprehensive set of advanced interpretation tools covering seismic
interpretation, petrophysics, log analysis through well correlation
to petroleum engineering and reservoir simulation. The suite is
totally integrated around the Tigress Project Data Store (PDS) .
With Release 4.6, Tigress offers Tigress PC Edition, a fully
integrated, self-contained workflow solution pre-installed on a
laptop PC. Tigress PC Edition is integrated with the latest
Microsoft software (Windows 2000 or Windows XP) running as a guest
operating system through VMwareTM.
Tigress PC Edition is designed to be fast, easy to use and
portable, giving users:
- full Tigress functionality supporting the whole exploration and
production (E&P) project lifecycle on a laptop
- a flexible, portable solution which can easily be configured to
meet your individual requirements, whether connected
to your office LAN, working off-line at home, or when
travelling anywhere in the world
- a fast, cost-effective replacement for the workstation and PC
on your desk
- integration between Tigress PC Edition and the
full range of Windows 2000/XP office applications
- an easy-to-use solution: just switch it on and start
work.
On the road with Tigress PC
Edition
In addition to offering a full suite of E&P applications,
Tigress PC Edition is designed for remote field or home use, in
situations where time and/or mobility are critical.
Tigress PC Edition can be used by geoscientists and managers
for:
- E&P project work in regions with little or no IT
infrastructure, or where infrastructure costs are prohibitive
- reducing lead time when evaluating new prospects in remote
areas
- in-field real-time data validation and quality control
(QC)
- keeping in touch with office-based projects while on the
move
- the promotion and sale of E&P data.
It can also be used for off-site reporting and presenting of
live projects, allowing interactive review of the project rather
than a static presentation. This allows the discussion of
alternative scenarios, and streamlines the process of feeding
changes back into the project.
Features supporting remote field use include:
- automatic detection of local Tigress projects when you connect
to the local network, allowing connectivity to local data and
peripherals
- comprehensive in-field data loading capability through support
for peripherals connected directly to the PC
- simple data transfer and replication between office-based data
stores (OpenWorks, GeoFrame, Tigress PDS, OpenSpirit) and the PC using the Tigress
Import/Export System (TIES)
- integration with PC-based office systems and complementary
PC-based E&P software.

Working in your office with Tigress
PC Edition
Tigress PC Edition works just as effectively in your office as
it does on the road. You get all the benefits available for remote
field use, plus:
- a significant reduction in IT infrastructure cost, as it is no
longer necessary to have a workstation and a PC on your desk
- optional support for a second screen from your laptop, without
requiring a second graphics card
- the added convenience and increased desk space arising from
working with a single, compact machine.

Integration with Windows
applications
VMwareTM is used to allow Linux to 'host' Windows
NT, 2000 or XP as a guest operating system, giving the user access
to the full range of Office applications and complementary third
party geoscience applications; for example:
- full cut-and-paste interoperability between Tigress
applications and Microsoft Office applications, allowing improved
reporting and customised analysis
- direct access from Excel to the Tigress project database
- streamlined transfer of data between the Tigress project
database and third party geoscience products.
