Geotrace Data Integration Services has a wealth of experience in the area of data management. From the standard tasks of populating Tigress Oracle databases, to data transfer and data conversion, we have built up an excellent knowledge and toolkit to handle the typical challenges that face any exploration and production (E&P) outfit as it enters the data management domain.
We provide a range of skills and data management services including:
Data loading and data quality control (QC)
Geotrace clients can outsource the data loading process to us. This can be anything from one-off tasks, such as loading 2D and 3D seismic surveys or a set of well log data, to a full project building process, covering the whole spectrum of available E&P data.
Geotrace was instrumental in much of the data loading and management of the ECL project in Iraq. We worked on the super giant oil fields of Rumaila, and on the even larger Kirkuk field, which for much of its life has been the second largest oil-producing field in the world. Geotrace staff designed data gathering and data QC processes, working closely with the end clients and the Iraqi Oil Ministry to rapidly develop a robust and thorough data capture procedure. We visited the Ministry in Baghdad, set up workstations and trained local staff to ensure a consistent data handling processes is in place and is used from the source right through to the end client.
Project management
Smaller clients find it cost-effective and convenient to outsource much of their project management to us as a service contract. We will build, and maintain, master copies of the client's databases, and offer an ongoing incremental data update service to track the development of the projects as more data become available. In conjunction with this we can help with data archiving, backup and restoration, and can provide excellent remote support for all aspects of the Tigress workflow.
Data conversion
Geotrace can provide data conversion services for a wide variety of industry standard data types. We have built a direct link between the Tigress and OpenWorks databases, so that bidirectional bulk transfer of data can be used in project management. We also have an extensive GeoShare link capability using the latest POSC supported model, so data can be converted to and from a wide variety of sources, including GeoFrame databases. Other links handle data for systems like Geolog and Petrel.
